43. Stand on One Leg to Mount Tiger

(l) Move the right foot one step backward to the right, shift the weight backward and turn the upper body to the right open the right fist and move it downward and to the right in an arc until it stops outside the right hip, palm down. Open the left fist at the same time and move it slightly to the right in an arc as the body turns to the right. (Fig. 226)

(2) Raise the left foot and move it slightly to the right to form the left empty step, and turn the upper body to the left. Move the left palm past the abdomen in a curve to the left and press it by the left hip. Move the right palm upward in a curve past the front of the head and then downward to above the left side of the left leg, palm up. The head follows the body’s turn. Look straight ahead. (Fig. 227)

(3) Stand on the right leg, slightly bent, and raise the left leg with the knee s1ightly bent and instep flat in front of the body Move the right palm forward and upward, palm oblique to the left and wrist at shoulder level. Change the left palm into a hook hand and raise it backward to the left to shoulder level. Turn the upper body to the left. Look ahead and to the left (southwest). (Fig. 228)

Points for attention: In the fina1 position, stand on the right leg, slightly bent; the left leg looks straight, but is not straight. It is naturally raised in front of the body, toes of the left foot slightly inward. The height differs from person to person. The right hand faces the left foot. The upper body turns to the southwest. Keep it natural and relaxed.
